OKAGEL Light diffussing Nanogel
The filling material Nanogel® from the Cabot Corporation belongs to a special class of noncrystalline solids. These highly brittle Aerogel offer unique physical properties. The products nanoporous particles with a diameter of 0.7 mm to 3.5 mm basically consist of SiO2, the basic material of sand or glass. However Nanogel has an air content of about 95% and only weighs 75 g per litre. This makes Nanogel the lightest and best insulating solid in the world. It offers outstanding sound and thermal insulation uniquely combining them with a high light transmittance and light diffusion. Different glass build-ups result in a reduced thermal transmittance of Ug = 0.3 W/(m²K), respectively Ug = 0.05 Btu/ The requirements towards the functionality of modern building envelopes become larger and more demanding. Today facades need to cover a variety of partly controversial tasks. The integrated consideration of all these functions not only brings new challenges for planers and architects but also demands new design solutions and building products. Façade elements filled with Nanogel® fulfil these increased requirements and additionally offer a series of new technical possibilities:
