OKALUX – Light Diffusing Insulating Glass

OKALUX insulating glass elements with capillary inlays are beautiful and highly efficient. The diffuse the daylight deep into the room and simultaneously provide an excellent sun and glare control. Their heat insulation properties are impressive and the transmission values of the glass can be individually adjusted to suit the requirements of your buildings.

The insulating glass elements contain copious translucent or white capillary tubes in the inter-pane cavities. These split up the incident daylight and diffuse it throughout the interior room.

OKALUX light- diffusing insulating glass elements illuminate rooms evenly to a depth of 15 metres with minimum shadowing. Conventional insulating glass only provides intensive illuminating in the proximity of the façade, resulting in the casting of strong shadows.

Variable light transmission – Bright rooms without glare

Gyms require excellent illumination. OKALUX capillary glass ensures the even and glare- free diffusion of daylight of daylight, thereby preventing the creation of any bright or dark zones. The light transmission is excellent and can be varied according to individual requirements. Furthermore, it provides perfect thermal sun protection, thus establishing optimum training and workout conditions inside the gym.

Optimum heat insulation - Protection against heat and heat loss

Saving energy! Capillary glass significantly improves the U- value of the façade and minimises the cooling loads.

Capillary glass is distinguished by its exceptionally high- quality heat insulation properties. The little capillary tubes in the inlay act as air cushions which prevent the convection of gases in the inter- pane cavity. OKALUX+ produces Ug- values of up to 0.9 W/(m²K) | 0.18 Btu/(h ft² °F), U- profile glass with a capillary inlay 0.7 W/(m²K) | 0.12 Btu/(h ft² °F), special versions can even reach 0.4 W/(m²K) | 0.07 Btu/(h ft² °F).

Capillary inlays additionally reduce thermal radiation from the sun. Thermal sun protection can be set to TSET of up to 0.15, depending on individual requirements

Variable solar protection - Outstanding protection against UV radiation

OKALUX capillary glass elements are ideally suited for use in museums. They protect precious exhibits against UV radiation and enhance protection against fading and waning. Pale, colourless capillary structures transmit all wavelengths of visible light, thus providing a natural reproduction of the entire colour spectrum. U- profile glass elements with a capillary inlay from OKALUX give a splendid, breathtaking appearance and create a very special interior atmosphere. They distinguish themselves through their remarkable U- values of up to 0.4 W/(m²K) / 0.07 Btu/(h ft² °F).

Capillary glass has an extremely appealing appearance and is not only applicable to processing daylight – it can also act as a gorgeous interior and exterior design element.

The fine, smooth surface of the capillary structure appears inspiring and refreshing as it induces the interplay of light and shadow with partial transparency.

The visual quality makes capillary glass and capillary mats attractive for the design of space permeable partitions, trade fair stands, showrooms and other interior applications.
