KAPILUX T for productive research and learning
For the teaching and research building for Biotechnology and Sustainability at the Campus Straubing of the Technical University of Munich, Schuster Pechtold Schmidt Architekten opted for environmentally friendly and low-emission materials and renewable raw materials in line with the location's orientation.
Professors and students work here on innovative solutions for a sustainable future in research laboratories, a lecture hall and seminar rooms.
The light-diffusing KAPILUX T insulating glass acts as a skylight to create a pleasant working atmosphere in the seminar rooms. The transparent capillary panels installed in the space between the panes ensure uniform illumination of the room without shadows. In addition to very good sun and glare protection, the capillary tubes improve the thermal insulation and transmission values can be individually adjusted to the requirements.
The structure of the transparent capillary tubes, visible on both sides, characterises the appearance of KAPILUX T. With partial transparency, the glass creates an effect of depth and a lively appearance.
